Huron Individuals Honoured for Community Contributions

Mrs. Stoltz, Mr. Dance (Huron Teachers),  students Iain Stoltz (grade 11) , and Matthew Miner (grade 10) have been awarded the prestigious Canadian Commemorative Centennial Medal by the Governor General of Canada.  Only 3000 of these Medals were minted in Canada to celebrate 100 years of Scouting. Candidates were nominated from both Scouting and the Community for significant and meritous contributions to their communities. Each was nominated and adjudicated separately. Fewer than 3000 Medals were awarded nationally, and less than 4% went to those under the age of 19, making it an extra special mark of distinction for our students.  Congratulations Mrs. Stoltz, Mr. Dance, Iain and Matt!

Caution High Water Levels

The forecasted rainfall with the expected snowmelt will result in higher flows in all our rivers and streams, resulting in dangerous flow conditions. All watercourses in our area will experience higher than normal waterlevels. While no flooding is presently expected, the highflows will cause local streams and rivers to become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. In addition, all ice covered creeks and ponds should be considered dangerous. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses and ponds
