Administrative Changes

Parents/Guardians,

At the Board meeting last Thursday January 29th, it was announced that some administrative changes were to be made among a few of the secondary schools in the system. These changes included both promotions into vacant positions along with some administrators moving between schools.

One of these changes involved Mr. Scott, our vice-principal, leaving us to take on the same role at Vaughan Secondary School. Mr. Scott had been with us during the first semester, admirably filling in for Mr. Azzopardi who is off work indefinitely at this point due to health reasons,. I am sure you will join me in thanking Mr. Scott for his many contributions to Huron during his time with us and wish him all the best in his new school.

While we are sad to see Mr. Scott leave, we are equally excited to welcome Mr. Foran who takes over the vacant vice-principal position effective February 1st. Mr. Foran joins us from Maple High School where he taught special education and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge.

If you have any questions, please contact us at the school at 905-895-2384.

Principal

Message from our trustees

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The first half of the school year certainly seems to be whizzing by.  Many school activities are now well underway thanks to the involvement of students, staff, parents, families and community volunteers.

As trustees, we had the opportunity to attend the school council orientation sessions and meet with school council chairs and treasurers along with their school administrators and superintendents.  It was a pleasure to have enthusiastic parents participating in such important roles.

From November 19-21, 2007, the Board’s Quest Conference took place.  This conference, co-sponsored with the province’s Literacy Secretariat, was the culminating event after months of preparation.  This year’s conference was focused on leadership that deepens learning.  Participants included York Region parents, staff and community members as well as national and international delegations.

Thank you to staff and parents for ensuring a nurturing, positive, learning environment for our students.

As we enter the new year, we wish you all a safe and restful holiday break.

Sincerely,
